Hello and welcome!

We're one of the country's oldest universities, and we've come a long way in our 90 years. The University of Hull is a vibrant institution – a blend of English tradition and cutting-edge technology.

96% of our graduates progress into work or further study within six months of completing their studies.

We nurture communities and we put our students (drawn from more than 100 countries) at the heart of everything we do.

Find out what qualifications you need to apply to study with us. Learn more about paying fees and discover where you can meet us in your country.

Entry requirements

  • Undergraduate

We're currently confirming our 2018 undergraduate entry requirements and will publish them soon.

In the meantime, please get in touch by emailing global@hull.ac.uk or call +44 (0)1482 462190.

Don't quite meet the requirements? Don't worry - we review every application on an individual basis. Email global@hull.ac.uk to find out more. You may also be interested in our degree preparation course, ONCAMPUS.

  • Postgraduate Taught

The majority of our taught Masters programmes require that you hold a qualification equivalent to a lower second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.2). Please check our course pages for specific entry requirements.

We generally consider a Bachelors degree awarded by a nationally recognised higher education institution in Malaysia to be comparable to a UK Bachelor Honours degree.

If awarded by a recognised private institution, the programme must be accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and registered within the Malaysian Qualifications Register.

    Lower second-class (2.2) equivalent
    GPA 2.5 out of 4

    Upper second-class (2.1) equivalent
    GPA 3.0 out of 4

If you hold Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma we encourage you to apply, including your prior qualification with your application, as we may be able to accept you for entry onto our Master programme.

Don't quite meet the requirements? Don't worry - we review every application on an individual basis. Email global@hull.ac.uk.

  • Postgraduate Research

Check course listings for specific entry requirements. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Remember, we judge each application on an individual basis.

If your first language is not English, or you require a Tier 4 student visa to study, you will be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency level. Find out more.

"The Mechanical Engineering course at Hull is interesting and challenging. The lecturers are extremely passionate and are always ready to help. They have made my learning experience a memorable one.

"Hull is a growing powerhouse in the oil and gas industry. This provides great opportunities for me to obtain valuable work experience, giving me a kick-start to my career. I am a member of the Hull Malaysian Students’ Association and a student ambassador. It is a great way to socialise with students and do activities you enjoy.

"There are two sides to Hull. The first side: Hull can be a quiet place. I live in a peaceful residential area, which helps when it comes to focusing on my studies and the living costs are low, which is useful. The other side of Hull has a vibrant nightlife, with bustling restaurants. It definitely lives up to its title as the UK City of Culture 2017."

“I chose to study Mechanical and Medical Engineering because the idea of applying mechanical engineering principles onto medical purposes fascinates me. The University of Hull provides a well-balanced course which offers both informative lectures and eye-opening practical sessions. The engineering department, particularly our student success advisor has always made it a point to be friendly and helpful.

“I was previously the course representative and have always been active in volunteering for Go Connect Schemes. Currently, I am the Vice President in the Malaysian Student Association. I am also a Student Ambassador. All these activities have helped me in developing my self-confidence and my public speaking skills to be one step closer to my career. I have also been able to meet and get to know so many people with different cultural backgrounds.

“The peaceful and serene town of Hull makes it easy for students to focus on studies. It is also not short on entertainment with Newland Avenue with a wide range of shops being so close to the University. The fact that it is the City of Culture 2017 makes me feel proud being part of Hull.

“After University, I aim to be on a graduate scheme in a company developing medical products as the first step towards my career as a medical engineer in the UK.

My greatest moments from my time at Hull are:

  1. The best thing about coming to Hull is getting to know so many people from different cultural backgrounds.
  2. Travelling to different cities across UK and Europe with different travel buddies has expanded my knowledge and made me learn to not be limited by only what we can see and what is in front of us.
  3. The experiences in volunteering for the Go Connect Scheme and as a Student Ambassador have made me grateful and appreciative of the things I have in life.”

“I chose to study Law as I followed the strengths and weaknesses of my A-level results. My best result was English Literature, which showed my strength in the language and my interpretive skills, which relates to Law. The staff and lecturers are very helpful and friendly. They are eager to help when I ask for it and they are always available.

“Hull is a quiet and peaceful place to be in, it is also a great environment to study in. The campus itself is really well equipped and everything is suitable for me. I have travelled with my friends around Yorkshire and other places in the UK, which was enjoyable.

“The University is very diverse. I have groups of friends of different nationalities and I got to learn about different cultures, politics and religion. This allowed me to become more aware of what’s happening in the world.

“I have the experience of socialising with people from many different nationalities, which has developed my skills. I have also gained other skills and friends from joining societies such as Swing Dance Society and Anime Society.

“The University of Hull has given me lots of experiences and enabled me to increase my career prospects with workshops and advice from my department and the Careers Service. I plan to go back to Malaysia and go into employment for a year to gain experience. After this, I will further my studies.

My greatest moments from my time at Hull are:

  1. A Christmas party with friends and delicious German food.
  2. My first time clubbing at the Fresher’s Welcome Party!
  3. My visit to Beverley, it is a very charming town.”
