Regional/Local History
The Certificate in
Regional and Local History offers students an
opportunity to study the local past through a wide variety of
topics. These range from the rise and role of the gentry and
aristocracy in the eighteenth century; to changes in industry and
the development of water, road and rail transport. Each module
introduces students to the wealth of material available locally for
the study of local history, and methods for location and
interpretation of sources are also part of the teaching
programme
The Diploma in Regional
and Local History provides more
specialised modules on subjects including
Yorkshire during the Middle Ages, Elizabethan Hull, and Hull and
East Yorkshire during the First World War. Students who complete
the Diploma may progress to the BA Degree in Regional
and Local History, this includes training in research
methods and a dissertation element.
