Chris is a BASES (British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences) accredited sport and exercise scientist.

His research interests span the themes of the long-term athletic development, talent identification and performance analysis of professional team sport athletes.

Chris is a lecturer in sports coaching and performance and the module leader for the Introduction to Performance Analysis (Level 5) and Performance Analysis in Practice (Level 6) modules.

He has completed an applied coaching science-focused PhD, a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice teaching qualification, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research Interests

  • Soccer player performance
  • Physical development of athletes relative to their biological and somatic maturity
  • Acute pre-match and half-time preparation strategies implemented in elite soccer
  • The use of GPS and accelerometry in team sports
