Sander Dommers joined the University of Hull as a teaching fellow after postdoctoral positions with the University of Bologna in Italy and the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany.

He previously studied Industrial and Applied Mathematics at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands, gaining both an MSc and a PhD.

Sander's PhD, Spin models on random graphs, was achieved under the supervision of Remco van der Hofstad and Cristian Giardinà.

Research

Research Interests

  • Mathematics

  • Probability theory, statistical mechanics and graph theory

  • (Power-law) random graph models (configuration model, generalised random graphs, preferential attachment models, Erdős–Rényi random graph)

  • Interacting particle systems (Ising/Potts models, rotor and other continuous spin models, inclusion/zero-range processes)

  • Properties of these models in equilibrium (thermodynamic quantities, phase transitions, critical behavior and exponents, limit theorems and rates of convergence, large deviations)

  • Dynamics of these models (metastability, mixing times)
