Athens

To view Library Electronic Journals from off-campus, you may need to login to Athens.

To access Athens, you should add the letters hul to the beginning of your user ID and login with your normal password (used for email, on-campus PCs, wireless, halls of residence internet etc).

For example, if your user ID was 333333, you would enter your Athens username as hul333333.

Password Problems

If you are still unable to login, your password may need to be synchronising.
To do this, login to the University of Hull campus password changer with your normal University user ID and password: https://regsys.hull.ac.uk/passwords/

Passwords must be between eight and twenty characters, including at least one digit.

  • If your password meets this criteria, please enter your current password in the "old password" and both "new password" boxes. Press Change Password. Your password will not be changed, but you will be able to login to Athens with your existing campus password. It may take up to an hour before you are able to login to Athens. Alternatively, you could create a new password at this point, if you wish.
  • If your password does not meet this criteria, please enter your current password in the "old password" field and a new password in both of the "new password" boxes, then press Change Password. You will need to use this new password whenever you login to University of Hull services (including. portal, e-mail, on-campus PCs, wireless, Athens). It may take up to an hour before you are able to login to Athens with your new password.

Expired Account

If you have not changed your password in five years, your Athens account will expire.

Please follow the above steps (Password Problems) to synchronise your password and reactivate your account.

Account Testing

To check whether your Athens password is working, you could try to login to the main Athens site at http://auth.athensams.net/my. This will also work if you are currently on campus and normally have automatic access to Athens journals.

Who has access?

For information on who is entitled to Athens access, please visit the Authorised users page on the Library Website.
