IT Account Information

Welcome to Hull University.  This page should give you all the information that you need in order to use IT services at the University.

Internet Access

For instructions on connecting to the internet from University owned accommodation, please visit the Student Accommodation Network page.

Logging in

You will have been given a user ID and password when you registered.  You will need these details to access all systems at the University.  If you ever forget your login details, please visit the Brynmor Jones Library Reception, or the ICT Service Desk with your staff or student card and we will be able to provide you with a print out.

Athens

To access Library Electronic Journals from off-campus, you may need to login to Athens.  To login to Athens, you should add the letters hul to the beginning of your user ID and use your normal password. More information is available from our Athens page.

Email

You can access your University email account by visiting http://owa.hull.ac.uk and logging in with your user ID and password.  Students are allocated 100mb storage, so please make sure you delete any unwanted emails regularly.

You can also access your email on your mobile phone by visiting http://oma.hull.ac.uk

Storage (G: drive)

You can access your G: drive from any PC on campus.  In order to prevent the loss of data, we would recommend storing any work on this secure drive.  You should never rely solely on portable devices such as USB pen drives.

You can also access your G: drive from home, instructions are available on the Accessing Your G: Drive page.

Portal

The Portal contains a wide range of information, including help and advice, exam timetables and results.

eBridge

The University's new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).  Here you will find a variety of information on your modules, which could include module handbooks, presentations, past exam papers and lecture notes.

TurnItIn

Many departments ask you to submit coursework electronically via TurnItIn.  Keep an eye on your email as you will receive a different login and password for TurnItIn.  If you ever forget these details, try the "Forgot Password" link on the TurnItIn homepage or speak to your department.

Printing

You are automatically given £3.50 print quota when you join the University.  You can top up your print quota at the Library Reception desk, or by using one of the wall mounted print quota machines available in most computer suites.

It currently costs five pence per sheet to print in black and white and twenty pence per sheet to print in colour.

You can check your print quota from any PC on campus by hovering the mouse over the pound symbol in the system tray (by the clock).

If you are connected to the Eduroam wireless network, you may also be able to print directly from your laptop.  Instructions are available by clicking here.
