Bill heads up the Knowledge Exchange team and leads the University's interaction with regional business and community. He is actively engaged with a range of regional organisations, aiming to ensure that the University plays a full role in the region's aspirations and development.

Supporting the Director of the Knowledge Exchange to lead the Knowledge Exchange team - the main interface between the University of Hull and business. The Knowledge Exchange provides a front door to the University of Hull for businesses, ensures that businesses can benefit from the academic expertise that the University can offer, and enables the University of Hull to commercialise its knowledge and academic expertise."


Jeev Mantotta-Maxted - Commercial Opportunities Officer

Jeev supports the commercialisation of inventions arising from University research. This includes assessing new inventions for protectable IP, filing patent applications and exploring avenues for commercialisation. Jeev can also offer general advice in relation to IPR and commercialisation.


Paula Gouldthorpe – Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Manager

Paula is responsible for developing, managing and promoting enterprise and entrepreneurship activities across the University. Supporting enterprise skills for student employability and leading on the development of extra-curricular student enterprise support. Paula manages the Universities Enterprise Centre, including the associated business support services available to tenants, students, graduates, staff and anyone looking to start a business. Working externally with partner organisations and business networks to support the creation and growth of new business start-ups.


Samantha Madden – Business Development Manager - Knowledge Transfer

Samantha is responsible for business engagement and builds relationships with organisations wishing to access the University's research expertise, whilst managing an existing multi-disciplinary portfolio of major client accounts. With experience in developing and managing complex projects, business challenges can be met with a fresh perspective and with a view to positively affecting the bottom-line. Samantha also has responsibility for strategic business-to-business marketing and driving forward new and improved business services.


Gill Sinclair – Knowledge Transfer Partnership Officer

Gill works with public and private sector organisations to help them achieve, via a KTP, a step change in performance and profitability. KTPs link specialist university expertise to business, providing grant-aided resources to thriving organisations wishing to innovate, expand or improve performance.


Gill King - Funding Opportunities Officer

Gill supports the University in identifying and securing a range of external funding in pursuit of the University’s knowledge transfer, commercialisation and enterprise agendas. Whilst Gill focuses particularly on projects that will develop the University’s engagement with businesses to maximise our contribution to development of the sub-regional economy, other aspects of knowledge transfer, for example public engagement activities, are also promoted.

Guy supports the strategic development of the environmental and renewables sectors through the work of the Knowledge Exchange and the Centre for Adaptive Science and Sustainability. With a focus on developing the University’s business-focused R&D and training capacity, Guy also promotes new business development and funding opportunities.


David Wells - Business Development Manager - Environment

David is the main point of contact for industry and businesses connected with sustainability and environmental issues. Working with the University’s Centre for Adaptive Science and Sustainability, David is focussed on building effective and productive relationships between the University and businesses, utilising the knowledge and skills developed at Hull.

Jonathan is project manager for the University's Centre for Telehealth. Hull already has a world-leading telehealth service and the new Centre will bring together key staff from the University, NHS, public and third sector organizations to create a truly integrated telehealth consortium.


Karen Allen - Administration Team Leader

Karen manages the three administration staff responsible for work relating to Enterprise Centre tenants, IP and commercialisation, accounts and purchase order processing, general administration and any other special project work. Karen also manages the diary and workload for Bill Walker, Director.

Kerry is the first point of contact for the Enterprise Centre reception, dealing with all queries coming into the Centre on a telephone and face-to-face basis, as well as controlling all room bookings for internal and external events. Kerry is the liaison for all of the Centre’s resident businesses and deals with all their related administration.
