Neil Cameron has been
appointed Interim Director of Facilities, reporting to the Interim
Chief Finance Officer, for a period of 6 months from September
2011. Neil will assume responsibility for advising on a
number of initiatives, including completion of the Estates
Strategy, Carbon Reduction plan and Long Term Maintenance plan, and
assisting on the high level structural review of the Facilities
Directorate. He will work closely with the Interim Chief
Finance Officer and David Thomson, Assistant Director of Facilities
(Estates and Buildings), concentrating on the extensive £100m
Capital programme and assisting in the various planning work that
is currently in progress.
Neil is a qualified architect and
recently retired as the Director of Estates at Sheffield
University, a position he held between 2006 and 2010. In his role
he took responsibility for an annual revenue budget of £45m and
Capital spending was in excess of £50m per annum, excluding the
construction of a new student village comprising 4,000 beds costing
£160m.
He is also a trained BREEAM HE
assessor and is now an independent consultant specialising in
Sustainability and Higher Education.
