Welcome to the Facilities Directorate

The Facilities Directorate reports to the Interim Chief Finance Officer who now holds responsibility as a member of the Senior Management Team for the University.

 

Neil Cameron, Interim Director Of FacilitiesNeil Cameron has been appointed Interim Director of Facilities, reporting to the Interim Chief Finance Officer, for a period of 6 months from September 2011.  Neil will assume responsibility for advising on a number of initiatives, including completion of the Estates Strategy, Carbon Reduction plan and Long Term Maintenance plan, and assisting on the high level structural review of the Facilities Directorate.  He will work closely with the Interim Chief Finance Officer and David Thomson, Assistant Director of Facilities (Estates and Buildings), concentrating on the extensive £100m Capital programme and assisting in the various planning work that is currently in progress.

Neil is a qualified architect and recently retired as the Director of Estates at Sheffield University, a position he held between 2006 and 2010. In his role he took responsibility for an annual revenue budget of £45m and Capital spending was in excess of £50m per annum, excluding the construction of a new student village comprising 4,000 beds costing £160m.

He is also a trained BREEAM HE assessor and is now an independent consultant specialising in Sustainability and Higher Education.

David Thomson

David Thomson - Assistant Director (Estates and Buildings) delivers the capital programme, spending £12.8 million in the current year, with a team of Surveyors and Engineers, David oversees maintenance of 157,000 m² of University teaching and administrative buildings, plus 73,770 m² of residential accommodation with our team of maintenance and grounds staff.

Mark MullaneyMark Mullaney - Assistant Director (Commercial Services) provides residential management with staff at the Lawns, Needler Hall, Thwaite Hall, and operates catering at 12 outlets.  Mark also develops conference business for the University.

Sally Campbell

Sally Campbell - Assistant Director (Services and Administration) provides a range of operational services including cleaning, porterage, security, printing, telephones and waste covering 90 buildings.  Sally also oversees the central activity such as HR and Health and Safety within the Directorate.

All are supported by a team of 488 full-time and part-time staff.
