"The module was so different and unique, I looked forward to the lectures and meeting new people from different courses." Rosalind Smith, Law, 3rd Year, Module: Voyages in the Fantastic "A free elective gave more depth to my qualifications and alternative career options." Katherine Dove, LLB Law, 3rd Year Students on most “legacy” undergraduate programmes, in other words programmes which are in the process of being phased out as a Curriculum 2016 programme is phased in, can choose one Free Elective module per year. You can choose from a range of modules, and as in any other module, your achievements in the second and third years of your degree count towards your final degree classification. Third-year (or final-stage) students cannot choose a level-4 module, except for the Passport languages modules which are available to all students including finalists. This site aims to answer the following questions; What is a Free Elective? Can I do a Free Elective? Why should I do a Free Elective? I want to do a Free Elective, what should I do now? If you have any further questions about how Free Elective modules fit into your degree programme, please contact your home School or visit your Faculty Student Hub.
