Health & Safety Services provides professional advice, guidance and training services on Safety, Fire, Radiation and a number of environmental elements in support of all sections of the University.

We advise and assist the University Council, Vice Chancellor, senior managers, University departments, other support services and the Students’ Union on how to achieve compliance with the wide range of legislative requirements which apply to the University.

Health & Safety Services provide support and training so that staff, departments and other support services can be more effective in managing and monitoring safety issues and safety performance in their department/services.

We also provide a source of professional expertise to senior managers, University departments and services and a central monitoring service for the University on the safety performance of departments by safety audits, safety inspections and accident/incident investigations.

We provide an on-call emergency response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our aim is to promote a positive safety culture in the University.
