If sport’s your thing, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to both watch and participate. You’ll find football, rugby league, golf and athletics events to watch or join.
Transport
With excellent road, rail, air and seaport links, you’re within reasonable driving distance of major cities like Manchester and Leeds. You’re also within 2.5 hours of London by train.
Arts & culture
With a vibrant tradition for arts and culture, several museums here are of national importance. There is a strong theatrical tradition too: arts, heritage and distinctive architecture play an important role in attracting visitors and encouraging tourism. In fact, lots of original material is produced and premiered locally as well.
Education
The area boasts a number of high quality schools and education providers. East Yorkshire schools are regularly above average for England in Key Stage 2, GCSE and 'A' level performance tables.
Entertainment
With museums, theatres, poetry, music, nightlife, bars, restaurants and a new open air theatre in Scarborough, you’ll always be spoiled for choice. Scarborough, in particular, is well known for its festivals and musical traditions.
