Welcome to the PDP and
Employability homepage
"The Government believes that our universities are
essential for building a strong and innovative economy. We will
take action to create more college and university places, as well
as help to foster stronger links between universities, colleges and
industries... We will publish more information about
the costs, graduate earnings and student satisfaction of different
university courses.”
The Coalition: our programme for government - May 2010
This statement by the Government demonstrates its commitment to
the importance of supporting and promoting employability. Building
on this, HEFCE asked institutions: “...to publish employability
statements on the help they provide to students to improve their
employability and transition into work.” HEFCE
Circular letter number 12/2010
Employability is therefore a key theme which Universities need
to address and which the University of Hull is working towards
promoting through a range of activities.
In relation to PDP, the new University Strategic Plan
(2011-2015) makes reference to developing PDP practice:
"We intend to develop our framework for personal development
planning (PDP), including the personal supervision system, to
ensure that, as part of our personalised approach, all students are
able to reflect on their individual needs and achievements, and to
record them in a form that they can use to evidence to future
employers the ways in which the University of Hull has equipped
them to make an impact and to become life-long learners."
If you wish to find out more about employability and PDP
and how LTSU can help you promote and develop employability skills
for students please email Paul Chin. Alternatively, if
you have ideas or actively promote employability in the curriculum,
LTSU would like to hear from you.
