The Strategic Development Unit

The Strategic Development Unit reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and has a broad remit which includes support for the senior management team and departments, as well as acting as the interface with a number of external agencies.

We are engaged in all aspects of academic planning and facilitating the University decision-making processes. Our work includes resource allocation, statutory returns to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), and other external agencies, provision of management information, and preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF). We provide support for the University Executive and Senior Management Group.

The Planning Officers have academic and service area responsibilities and act as a source of expert guidance and advice for faculties and departments on planning issues.
