2009 MEDIA AND DISCUSSION
In connection with the issues of parliamentary expenses and
ethical standards, James Connelly has recently appeared on Look
North, Radio Humberside and Radio Ulster. He has been
interviewed for The Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/may/08/mps-expenses-ethics-remuneration ),
the Hull Daily Mail, Bloomberg News and Le Journal du
Dimanche. He took part in a seminar at the House of
Lords discussing 'Conflicts of Interest and Trust in the House of
Lords (May 2009) and the Hansard Society hustings meeting to
discuss ideas for parliamentary reform.
Don Carrick acted as an adviser on military ethics education
in the making of the BBC2 documentary 'Fighting Passions', which
was broadcast on Sunday 24 May.

RESEARCH VISITORS
Dr Zhang Qing Wei visited the Institute from January to December
2009. Dr Zhang Qing Wei is based at the Philosophy Department
of The School of Humanities and Social Science, National University
of Defense Technology, 869# Fu Rong Road, Chang Sha City, Hu
nan Province, China 410074.His interests are political philosophy,
including Marxism and gender theory. He is a translator into
Chinese of the works of G. Cohen.

RESEARCH VISITORS
Grant Gillett
The IAE welcomed Grant Gillett, Neurosurgeon, Professor of Medical
Ethics and member of the Philosophy Department at University of
Otago, New Zealand, to the University in April. During
his stay he gave a seminar for the IAE on 23 April.
