The University of Hull Art Collection is a small but
outstanding collection specialising in paintings, sculpture,
drawings and prints produced in Britain 1890-1940.
It includes works by Beardsley, Sickert, Steer, Lucien Pissarro,
Augustus John, Stanley Spencer, Wyndham Lewis and Ben Nicholson as
well as sculpture by Epstein, Gill, Gaudier-Brzeska and Henry
Moore. The Camden Town Group and Bloomsbury artists are
particularly well represented.

The University Art Collection in the
Middleton Hall will close its doors on Monday 9 June. This is in
preparation for the eventual move to its new bigger and better home
in the refurbished Brynmor Jones Library.
The closure is to allow the photography of all our works and a
conservation audit. That will be followed by preparation and
wrapping ready for the move, which will take place when the
contractors have finished and the new spaces are ready. We expect
this to be in early to mid-August. It will then take some time to
arrange the hanging in the new gallery, but it is anticipated that
this will open in September.
