Flight of the Monarchs/Vuelo de las Monarcas Last updated on 10/14/2016 Print this page Senior lecturer in Music Rob Mackay has collaborated with Mexican artists to produce an immersive sound and video installation for the Amy Johnson Festival inspired by the incredible journey that the Monarch Butterfly takes each year from Canada to Mexico. Combining video and sound footage recorded in the El Rosario reserve in Michoacan with flute and Mexican poetry, it explores the resilience of this beautiful creature in the face of climate change. The installation ran until the 10th August 2016 in Zebedee’s Yard, Whitefriargate, Hull. Find out more. The project has been supported by the School of Drama, Music and Screen at the University of Hull as well as CMMAS (Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonores).
