The End of Life Care
Facilitators and Champions Network website hosted by the University
of Hull closed on 30th June 2016, and is
being replaced by a national online platform in September.
NHS England has commissioned the
National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) to develop a central
hub for Palliative and End of Life Care on the Ambitions website
It will act as a knowledge hub supporting improvements for
palliative and end of life care, implementation of the ‘Ambitions
framework’ and associated work of the National Palliative and End
of Life Care Partnership.
The knowledge hub will be aimed
predominately at palliative and end of life care professionals,
service providers and commissioners and will contain resources,
case studies, useful documents, links to other relevant websites
and potentially news articles and a calendar of events. Material
held on other platforms (such as the NHS IQ website) will
transition across to the site where relevant – the NHSIQ website
will also close at the end of 2016-17 as this organisation no
longer exists and the website is not being updated.
A project group, made up of members
from across the sector has been established to manage and oversee
the expansion of the website - this group will be responsible for
ensuring the content on the site remains fit for purpose. It is
envisaged the website will be up and running by the end of
September 2016. Following its re-launch, I would like to encourage
you to visit the site and help with its promotion by signposting
others there for information.
NHS England also aim to hold a
series of webinars and develop a newsletter which will be issued
throughout the year – you will receive an email asking if you wish
to be part of their mailing list in due course.
