Undergraduate Study

At Hull we offer applicants a very wide choice of degree
programmes to suit every type of interest in History and some of
its related subjects.
The BA History Programme offers various options
ranging from Single Honours in History to Joint Honours
degrees.
Specialised History degrees are available in Twentieth Century History, Maritime History, History
of Art and Archaeology.
History degree programmes are made up of modules. Typically,
full-time students take six modules per academic year; some
of these take place in a single term, while others run across
both terms. The range of History modules on offer at Hull is one of
our many strengths. The links on the left allow you to view
our modules either by period, ranging from ancient times to the
present day. BA History joint honours students take a core module
in History, either 'Exploring the Past' or 'Representing the Past
in Film' - both of these are ‘long thin' modules that run in both
semesters. From the modules offered by the Department, you will
also need to choose a ‘short fat' module for each
semester. This will give you the total of 60 credits that you
need from the History side of your degree programme. Students on
some joint programmes might also be able to do a ‘long thin' free
elective. This could be a History module. If you are interested in
this, please refer to the University's Free Electives
Handbook.
