Professor Paul GilbertPaul first arrived in Hull in 1967. He has been head of department on and off for nearly 20 years and received his personal chair in 2000.

Paul's research interests are principally in the field of human relationships, both personal and political, including aspects of national identity, though he also maintains an active interest in the philosophy of mind. He is currently working on a book on the philosophical method
