Legal Advice Centre

This is a student run service which is supervised by qualified members of academic staff. If you need a solicitor you can find a local provider on the Law Society Find A Solicitor website here, or contact Citizens Advice for general legal advice.

About the Legal Advice Centre

The aim of the Centre is to provide free, confidential and independent legal advice to the local community whilst giving Law School students the chance to gain practical experience of the legal profession.

The Centre is staffed by Law students under the supervision of qualified staff.  All Student Advisers are final year Law students professionally trained to provide help with a range of issues*, including:

  • Consumer issues
  • Criminal/Civil disputes
  • Neighbour disputes
  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Family

The Legal Advice Centre opens 1-5.30pm every Wednesday during semester and clients are offered a 45 minute appointment. Written advice will be provided within 14 days of an appointment.

Staff

The Centre is staffed by experienced Law School lecturers and lawyers Frank Dignan, Laura Milner and Dr Carmino Massarella.

Advisory Board

The Legal Advice Centre Advisory Board meets annually to discuss issues affecting the Centre.  Members of the Board include Centre and Law School staff plus the following external members:-
