The Graduate School of Politics and International Studies has a vibrant research culture and has a strong reputation for excellent teaching. Every year, about 40 taught Master and Research Students enrol in the wide variety of programmes. The Graduate School comprises about 60 students including those studying part-time or in advanced years of research degrees. The dynamic and intellectually stimulating research culture of the department seeks to be at the forefront of research in politics and international relations. The research and seminar programmes of the different research centres are important engines of high quality projects in which postgraduates can become involved.

 

One of the strengths for postgraduate students is that the Graduate School of Politics and International Studies offers a wide range of research degrees which are informed by the research specialisms of members of staff. The Department of Politics and International Studies is part of a University which has been rated as one of the friendliest in the UK. The university has been rated in the top ten nationally for graduate employment. Most of our students are able to start a career in a wide variety of organisations, national institutions, think tanks and academia.
