Centre for Security Studies

Hull's Centre for Security Studies researches the problems of
defending life and principle in world politics. The CSS recognises
that this is a broad topic, and although the Centre is
internationally noted for its work on war studies, it also supports
work on environmental security, economic security, peace research
and many other aspects of the security studies discipline. The CSS
supports a variety of academic approaches, emphasising the point
that security is a practical subject in which details matter. Staff
specialities include strategy, intelligence, defence policy,
military operations in all environments, military history in
numerous periods, the ethics of war, international law,
international relations, security studies theory and the critique
of violence.
