Research Interest

My doctoral research involved examining aspirations of restorative justice proponents and experiences of participants in family group conferences. Recently I have completed a study which explored public experiences of policing in post-Soviet Russia, perceptions of the police by contemporary Russian citizens and social implications of those perceptions.  Currently I am developing my research in Russia in a new direction which will involve investigating the normative commitment of Russian citizens to formal legal rules.

Teaching Responsibilities

The main modules I teach to undergraduate students are Introduction to Criminal Justice Ethics and Peacemaking Criminology.  I co-ordinate the free elective Understanding Crime and Punishment, as well as contributing to teaching on several other criminology modules. I also teach on MA in Restorative Justice (on-line) and BA Criminology in Hong Kong.
