Why Study Social Work at Hull?
Social work at Hull is a vigorous and developing activity. There
is a long tradition of social work education at the University of
Hull. We have always prided ourselves on providing programmes which
combine professional and intellectual rigour, and which are capable
of a quick and flexible response to the changing needs of the
market. Many of our graduates have long and successful careers in
local, national and international agencies as practitioners and
managers, or as researchers and academics.
Social work is taught, at BA as well as MA level, by a team of
23 academic and practice staff, supported both by other members of
the university and by practitioners and managers from local
social-work-related agencies.
Staff have a range of interests and expertise and are involved in
research in several areas, including self-harm, suicide and
young people, chronic illness, health and well-being, adult abuse
and safeguarding, sexualities, and kinship care. All are
committed to developing research-based and reflective social work
practice.
Please note: the BA and MA Social Work Programmes will
no longer operate a deferred entry system. The BA Social Work
Programme will be operating a reserve list for applicants from
2012.
