Faculty of Health and Social Care Research Ethics
Committee
The Faculty of Health and Social Care Research Ethics
Committee examines research proposals and studies involving our
staff and students to make sure they are ethical. In addition, it
can give Chair's approval for proposals that have already been
awarded ethical approval from other institutions, or organisations,
to conduct research using our staff and students. As well as
research proposals, the Committee also considers issues that may
have ethical implications for teaching and offers advice for any
matters that may require ethical consideration. Terms of Reference
for the Committee are available on request from the
secretary, J.L.Gilchrist@hull.ac.uk
The Faculty's Research Ethics Committee was founded in 2006 to
promote accountability, honesty and openness, and to protect the
University and the public during academic research. Its
members are chosen for their expertise in healthcare issues and
to represent the four branches of nursing within the Faculty as
well as midwifery.
