High-class research with impact

Hull University Business School (HUBS) has a strong and dynamic research culture. This culture has given rise to our reputation as a leading centre for business and management research.

Our research strength is reflected in our performance in the 2008 RAE when we were placed 16th among UK university business schools in terms of research power (quality of research multiplied by the number of researchers assessed). In terms of research quality, almost half of our research was assessed as world leading or internationally excellent, while 85% of our research was judged at least of international standing. The latest RAE therefore verifies the international excellence of the research conducted at HUBS and the strength of our research culture.

Our research is structured around eight research centres which span functional disciplines. These centres focus and formalise our major research initiatives. Knowledge and expertise in each centre is being applied in innovative ways to help drive forward our research agenda and help our business and public sector partners solve problems.

Our work therefore has a strong impact in diverse areas such as healthcare, environmental protection and economic growth, management learning and business practice, and international business strategy. Below you will find more detail on the activities of the research centres.
