Welcome to the Centre for Educational
Studies

The Centre for Educational Studies (CES) is part of the Faculty
of Education and has a national reputation for high-quality
teaching and research. Our experienced and dedicated staff will help you achieve your
goals.
CES is on the University’s Hull campus. The
department has a range of facilities including modern seminar
rooms and specialist teaching classrooms for initial teacher
training including a Modern Language studio and new teaching
laboratory and preparation room.
We offer a large selection of full, part-time and online
courses, from Foundation Degrees to
Masters and
Doctoral Level programmes.
CPD for the School Workforce
If you are interested in continuing your professional
development we would like to hear from you.
As an example of just one of the CPD options we run, in 2012 -
13 we are offering a French Subject
Knowledge Enhancement course for teaching staff.
What do our graduates do?
Our Foundation Degree and BA undergraduate courses prepare you
for a range of careers in education and community work while
offering the chance to develop transferable skills. Our BA students
have the option to apply to our PGCE teacher training courses
and many have gone on to work in settings including early
years, children’s centres, schools, local authority teams, for
educational charities and educational projects.
Our postgraduate programmes build on your existing
skills and knowledge. Students completing our Initial Teacher Training programmes (primary PGCE and secondary
PGCE) have excellent employment prospects as newly qualified
teachers.
All our students also have the option of continuing with their
professional development and enhancing their promotion prospects
through our Masters and Doctoral Level
programmes.
