Foundation degrees

(Levels 4 and 5 of higher education qualifications)

At foundation degree level, CES is keen to take into account a potential student’s life experiences as well as professional qualifications and awards. Therefore the centre does not ask for specific qualifications but is looking instead for motivation, relevant experience and evidence that you will be able to succeed in study at degree level.

Top Up Courses

(Level 6 of higher education qualifications)

CES offers the following top-up programmes designed to provide the Honours stage for students who have successfully completed the Foundation Degree in Learning Support or a similar foundation degree or accredited diploma.

Preparation for Initial Teacher Training

For those wishing to pursue training to be a teacher of Secondary Mathematics who have not got a Bachelor of Arts or Science (Honours) degree or the equivalent, CES offers both a Mathematics Enhancement and pre-Enhancement Course

Graduate linguists with little or no French can undertake the Modern Language Extension Course: French prior to beginning Initial Teacher Education.

Graduate linguists wishing to teach French confidently and accurately at Key Stage 5 (pupils aged 16 – 18) can undertake the French Booster course prior to beginning Initial Teacher Education.

 

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

(Levels 6 and 7 of higher education qualifications)

Trainees successfully completing their PGCE course with the University of Hull, gain Qualified Teacher Status AND their qualification includes 60 credits at masters level.

Advanced Certificate in Sustained Professional Development 

The Advanced Certificate in Sustained Professional Development (ACSPD) is an ideal vehicle for professionals looking to investigate and develop their own practice and that of their organisation within the workplace itself.

Taught programmes

Full-time (one year) and part-time (three years) Masters degrees in Education are offered by CES. All taught masters degrees in education are offered as a Masters of Education (MEd) with some named routes available. In order to graduate on a named route, at least two thirds of the credit accumulated will be specialist in nature. Students can enrol for:
