Courses
The Newlands Digital Training Centre specialises in the use of
mainstream digital technologies to enhance learning and teaching in
the classroom. The core aim is to provide university-accredited
courses for educators, who wish to enhance the quality of the
learning and teaching in the classroom with digital
technologies.
The modules are based around the themes of creativity, digital
media and social networking, including new technologies as
appropriate. They are ideally suited to Teaching Assistants (TA),
Learning Support Assistants (LSA), Learning Mentors and Higher
Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA). Some of the modules will meet the
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs of teachers.
The Centre also run courses aimed at Apple Mac users and anyone
contemplating buying a Mac. Try before you buy. The courses
introduce the participants to Mac OSx and iLife software.
The modules can also support anyone seeking employment in an
educational environment e.g. parents and school voluntary workers.
The study routes lead to a University Foundation Award, which is an
access qualification for a Foundation Degree Course, and are
generally aimed at people working in the educational sector but the
digital meida courses are also suited to a wider audience.
