Research, partnerships and projects

The Centre for Lifelong Learning is committed to research. Our staff carry out postgraduate study, present at national and international conferences, contribute to books and journals and hold research seminars.

We are also involved in a number of projects covering subjects such as evaluation, innovation and approaches to learning.

Our projects include:

  • Trade Unions and Social Networking – UNITE the Union is providing £6,300 to assess the potential of social networking for strengthening trade union organisation and effectiveness in areas such as collective bargaining, membership communications and lay democracy
  • Conceptualising learning and teaching for the new lifelong learning sector - in conjunction with YHELLN, this project was fiunded by ESCalate - the Education Subject Centre for Advanced Learning and Teaching Education. A full copy of the report and its findings is available on the ESCalate website
  • Lessons From Auschwitz – Holocaust Education Trust
  • Bridging the Gaps Offender Learning Project – Between 2007 and 2008 CLL joined with Spanish and Danish adult education providers as part of a project called Bridging the Gaps, which was supported by the EU. It encouraged adult learners to discuss the EU, social exclusion and citizenship, and brought together male offenders at HMP Hull and women students on other CLL programmes
