Who we are and where we are

The University of Hull has two Immigration Advisers currently based at the Student Wellbeing Learning and Welfare Support. Mr Ting Chen and Mrs Olga Ivanova will be happy to provide you with immigration advice, information and guidance on a range of study-related immigration queries.

What we offer

What we do

Student Welfare Support Service Immigration Team is here to support your success.

We provide free confidential information, guidance, advice and support on study related immigration queries.
We mainly deal with the following enquiries:

  • Tier 4 General visa applications (requirements, application forms inside and outside of the UK);
  • Problems with Tier 4 visas (lack of evidence, refusals, etc.);
  • Changing courses and/or universities;
  • Other study-related immigration queries (break from studies, withdrawing from your programme and its impact on your visa,  completing your programme earlier or later than initially expected, etc.);
  • Short-Term Study Visa;
  • Working during/after studies;
  • Family visiting or dependants joining you in the UK.

How to access

How to access our services

You can access our services in a variety of ways:

  • Email to – please remember to include your name, student number and as many details as possible about your query.
  • Complete our immigration enquiry form. Please provide as many details as possible.
  • By telephone on 01482 462222.
  • Drop in session – please contact the AskHU team, 2nd floor, Student Central in person, by telephone (01482 462222), by email on or live chat for up to date information and to book a place.
  • Individual appointments – following your email, telephone call or our drop in meeting, we may arrange a further appointment to assist you with your query.
  • Group sessions and workshops – throughout the year we may arrange various visa workshops and/or group sessions to assist you with preparation and completion of your next Tier 4 visa application.

If you would like to cancel or re-arrange your appointment, it is very important that you contact AskHU team as soon as possible. This will allow us to offer your cancelled appointment to another student.  Please check Student Wellbeing, Learning and Welfare Support appointment attendance policy for more details.

Visa Compliance Team

Contact the Visa Compliance Team, Registry Services if you have an immigration query relating to our Tier 4 sponsorship, visa compliance, attendance/progress monitoring and reporting (including authorised absence), new CAS for continuing students, and updating your contact/personal details:

Admissions Services
