In 1973, the ‘Ascent of Man’ was broadcast
as a 13-part television series on BBC2. Following its broadcast Dr
Jacob Bronowski become one of the world's most celebrated
intellectuals. Central to his intellectual concerns was the
relation between science and its wider cultural context,
particularly the arts.
In her lecture, Professor Lisa Jardine CBE,
Dr Bronowski’s daughter and a distinguished academic in her own
right, speaks about the unsettling recent revelation that Dr Jacob
Bronowski was considered a ‘security risk’ by MI5.
