The University of Hull has a proud history of achievement and a long-established international reputation as a research-engaged and innovative institution.

This commitment to excellence remains a key element of our vision, outlined in a new Strategic Plan. Striving for excellence will drive our research and enterprise agendas as we pursue our internationalisation strategy; it will also entrench the University’s position as an anchor institution for our communities.

Our outlook is encapsulated by the key phrase ‘going beyond’, and reflects our belief that universities must contribute towards shaping a better world and affect greater outcomes.

As part of our Strategic Plan, we are promoting a set of interdisciplinary themes, founded upon some of the most complex challenges facing the world today. These are: connected communities; creative economy; energy and the environment; ethics and social justice; global economy, maritime and security; and health and wellbeing.

The University will also continue to innovate within a broader research and enterprise agenda via our research departments, institutes, groups and centres, while supporting new and existing researchers in the development of world-class research.
