It provides a shop window and various channels to engage with all of our specialist expertise, technology and facilities, and ensures that you get put in touch with an expert in your field quickly and efficiently. For University academics and technical staff: The Knowledge Exchange provides a range of services to support the University of Hull in its R&D, innovation and enterprise activities. Business development support Access to colleagues with industry backgrounds, with specific sector expertise or interdisciplinary focus Develop and signpost colleagues to industry knowledge and intelligence Identify, develop and manage industry partners for contract research, consultancy, collaborative research, student internships and projects, KTP’s and research dissemination Support and advise departments on developing and effectively communicating their commercial offer to business Commercialisation and IP Support commercialisations of innovations/technology Protection and management of intellectual property (patents) including seeking funding for product development Advice about IP arrangements for collaborative work and out-sourcing or delivery of consultancy Support in engaging with service providers and collaborators Management of commercial agreements (e.g. licences). Enterprise and entrepreneurship Deliver and support across the Hull & Scarborough Campus enterprise skills & entrepreneurial mindsets. Provide advice to students, graduates, staff and members of the public on starting a business. Extra-curricular support through events, workshops and business advice clinics and support a student enterprise & entrepreneurship society. Curricular support through guest lectures & workshop delivery. Help with curriculum development and sourcing external business speakers. Management of the Enterprise Centre, providing desk and office facilities for new business start-ups. Funding information and support Identify and advise on potential funding for knowledge transfer/exchange projects Offer technical support - making sense of rules and requirements to access funds Advice on project development, completing applications, costing and impact Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Advice and information on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (a source of REF-able research income, journal papers and impact case studies), including the often-changing eligibility criteria, regulations and processes, as well as information on targeted calls for proposals. Support to academic colleagues throughout the whole KTP process, from initial meetings and expression of interest, through full application and launch, and including ongoing management and final reporting. Skills development and wider partnership links Advice on Knowledge Exchange elements of research funding / grant applications Support for departments to develop and coordinate their offer in skills and training with particular regard to training and short course provision. Relationships with local / regional stakeholders e.g. Local Enterprise Partnerships, Local Authorities, MPs and elected members. We also act as principal project contact point for the University’s Centre for Telehealth and the Centre for Adaptive Science and Sustainability.
