Diving at CEMS

At the Centre for Environmental and Marine Sciences we feel that it is important for our graduates to leave University with something in addition to an honours degree. Students that are interested are offered the opportunity to qualify as European Scientific divers.

There are two qualified dive instructors on staff (Dr. Magnus Johnson and Dr. Ralf Bublitz) and dive training is an integral part of the programmes offered at the centre for students who wish to follow this path. Magnus has been diving since he was 14 and has worked as a scientific diver all over the world. He has been an instructor since 2001 and now sits on the national Scientific Diving Supervisory Committee for the University of Hull. Ralf is also a scientific diver, marine biologist and dive instructor with a wealth of experience. He acts as the Diving Officer for CEMS Dive Club (Sub Aqua Association).
