Achieve 2016

We look forward to welcoming you to Achieve 2016. This is a fun-packed week of activities designed to give you the best possible start both in your final year of academic study but also for your career.

The week brings together three strands - you will either be doing Free Elective 44190, Developing Your Employability, 44152 Events and Outdoor Activity Management or you have opted for the skills conference element of the week. Either way, you can access a range of talks, workshops and guest speakers that will give you the boost you are looking for.

As well as the formal elements to the week, each day there will be a social programme for you to enjoy. This is a great opportunity for you to make new friends and important contacts.

You will also be able to enjoy Scarborough and its wonderful seaside location and try your hand at something new.

Tuesday 13 September

Enjoy a tour of Scarborough and treat yourself to some delicious fish and chips.

Wednesday 14 September

Try your hand at our Segway challenge. Courtesy of Go Ape! you can pit your wits against others to find out who is the fastest around the obstacle course.

Thursday 15 September

We are delighted to be joined by Bianca Miller (opens in new window) who first came to fame in the BBC programme 'The Apprentice.' Bianca has developed a very successful business and she will be sharing her tips for promoting yourself and developing your personal brand. After delivering a workshop in the afternoon, Bianca will also give an inspirational speech after which will be open to members of the business community as well as conference attendees. This will be followed by a wine and cheese event and a great opportunity for you to practise what you have learned.

Friday 16 September

Enjoy a free BBQ and entertainment courtesy of the Event Management students.

Saturday 17 September

There are three choices today depending on what you fancy. You can have the adrenalin rush of a cycle and surf challenge with Ray Barker; take a coach to Manchester Airport with Katy Graley to get the inside track on how to run an airport; or if you would like to relax and have a more leisurely time on campus, you can join in the activities of a Family Fun Day which is being organised by Health and Social Care students.

We have a full programme and you can choose to attend everything or simply dip in and out of the elements that best meet your needs. We hope you have a great week.

Don't forget to check out our Facebook page Achieve2016 where you can start to get to know fellow attendees.

Full details of all the individual workshops are available at https://share.scar.hull.ac.uk/achieve.
