Ecology and Environment

The ecology and environment theme is made up of several research groups, each working on separate, but interrelated areas of organismal biology and experimental ecology.

Our research includes physiological, behavioural and evolutionary studies, but we also work on organism-level studies that lead to understanding at the ecosystem level. Our work spans terrestrial and aquatic environments and encompasses both pure and applied research.

Our research takes place both our campus at Hull and in the Centre for Environmental and Marine Sciences at Scarborough. Research is also undertaken in this area by the Hull International Fisheries Institute (HIFI) and the Institute of Estuarine and Coastal Studies (IECS).
