The Department of Biological Sciences mixes tradition with innovation. We've been teaching since 1928, but a £3m investment programme and a strong international reputation for research means we're still at the cutting edge. Our key research areas are Biomedical Sciences, Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, and we are home to the Hull International Fisheries Institute (HIFI). Work on invasive species, such as the signal crayfish pictured here, is one cross-cutting theme of our research groups.
