The Department of Biological Sciences offers taught MSc courses
and supervision of research degrees (MSc, PhD) in a
stimlating environment and with access to excellent facilities.

PhD: You will spend three years doing in-depth,
novel research under the advice and direction of at least two
experienced academic researchers. The emphasis will be on
doing high-quality research that leads to publications in
internationally recognised scientific journals. At the end of
your degree you will submit a research thesis for evaluation by a
panel of experts including an external examiner.

MSc by Research: You
will spend one year on a research project closely advised by your
research supervisor. At the end of your project you will be
required to submit a research thesis, which will be evaluated by a
research panel.

Taught MSc: You will
undertake a two-semester taught element to attain the level of
postgraduate diploma, followed by a one-semester research project
to complete the MSc stage of the degree. We are currently offering
