Schools

The Department works closely with schools and colleges, and takes an active role in Widening Participation, through a variety of activities.

  • School visits.  We provide a range of lectures on all aspects of computer science.  HIVE and video games are very popular choices.  These are available both at the University or in the school/college.
  • Workshops.  During the summer, we host a range of workshops and events for children e.g. computer forensics, shape and geometry, e-commerce.  Future events will be published on our events page.
  • University tours. Many children visit our department on organised tours to gain an understanding of what its like to be a student at university studying Computer Science, and how very different it is from studying IT at school.

We can provide assistance and expertise in a number of other areas including both curriculum and career development.
