Why study Mathematics?
Mathematics is the fundamental language of nature.
It underlies our knowledge of all sciences; from the subatomic
quantum world, to the evolution of distant galaxies.
Mathematics gives us a way to quantify uncertainty, and to use
knowledge of the past to predict the future of complex systems such
as the global financial markets.
The logical beauty of mathematical theorems has contributed to
the enduring appeal of mathematics and has attracted the finest
minds from Isaac Newton to Andrew Wiles.
