Physics asks the biggest questions in the Universe!

Where did we come from? Where are we going? How do we make sense of the world around us?

But more than that, physics underpins our very way of life by providing the technology and science behind mobile phones, the internet, biomedical scans, corrective lenses in glasses, and mass transit systems.

At Hull, we have internationally recognized experts in laser physics, astrophysics, condensed-matter theory, and experimental solid-state physics who have made significant contributions to their field. Our students have access to these scientists and the opportunity to work with them very closely in project work during their undergraduate career.

Our staff are enthusiastic teachers, who aim to inspire our students to develop a deep understanding of physics. We also use active-learning to develop skills so that our graduates have successful careers in physics or other professions.
