About us
When you choose to study psychology at Hull, you’ll be in safe
hands. We’ve been teaching since 1928, making us one of the oldest
departments in the UK.
Don’t just take our word for it. All of our courses are
accredited by the British Psychological Society and our department
achieved 91% satisfaction for full-time students in the
last National Student Survey.
Our research is also in high regard, with 95% of our output
rated of international standard in the 2008 Research Assessment
Exercise.
We are based in two newly refurbished buildings which offer
state-of-the-art facilities. These include laboratories for
psychophysiology, neuropsychology, perception and motor skills, as
well as a child observation suite, psychological test library and
several networked computer suites.
Our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes combine
traditional scientific psychology with a focus on applying
knowledge to real-world issues.
We welcome around 250 undergraduate and 30 postgraduate students
to our department each year. Our students are well supported by our
academic team of 32 lecturers, 5 teaching fellows and several
graduate teaching assistants.
