Information for International Applicants

Visa applicants are strongly advised to apply by 1 September for September entry (or at least 2 months before intended start date to allow minimum time to complete the University and UKBA Tier 4 visa processes (the Tier 4 process takes at least 3-4 weeks in most cases).

How to apply - undergraduate applicants
Applications for all full-time undergraduate courses are made on-line up to 30 June through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Application information specifically for international students is available from UCAS.  After 30 June send your enquiry to admissions@hull.ac.uk or use this downloadable form if you are not applying to another UK university.

How to apply - postgraduate applicants

In addition to the postgraduate degree courses available the University offers a Masters Foundation programme which is a comprehensive preparatory course to top up academic qualifications in your chosen study area, enhance study skills and improve your English language (where appropriate).  This is a 15-month programme of study and there is a guaranteed progression to a Masters degree on successful completion.  Further details can be found on here.

English Language Proficiency
Applicants who require a Tier 4 student visa to study and those whose first langague is not English will be required to provide acceptable evidence of their English language proficiency.  Please refer to further guidance on the English language requirements page.

How to apply - pre-sessional English
The Department of Modern Languages offers a range of courses designed to support students whose first language is not English.  Further information is available (dates, fees, application form) on their website.

Use of recruitment agents/representative offices
The University has in-country representatives in several countries who help students with applications and are authorised to check original documents for the University.  The University does not charge an application fee for the basic process but in some cases assistance with the local visa process attracts an additional fee payable to the agent for their services. View the International Office website for country information. 

Visa process

The University of Hull is registered with the UKBA as a Tier 4 sponsor. 

The University provides a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) statement to each successful applicant at the appropriate time.  To receive a CAS the applicant must have firmly accepted an unconditional offer from the University and provided their passport details.  A list of frequently asked questions is available.
