Graduate Destinations

Each year, universities collect information from graduates and other leavers from Higher Education about what their employment status is six months after leaving. This is known as the 'Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education' or DLHE Survey.  For those graduating or completing their course in the summer, the census or survey date is in early to mid January of the following year.

The information collected is sent to the Higher Education Statistical Agency (HESA) in an encoded form and is used, amongst other things, to inform government policy on the future of Higher Education.

The information provides a snapshot of what leavers were doing 6 months or so beyond graduation, and it should be noted that there are a range of factors which influence the data, such as the economy and job availability.
