Getting Advice, Information and Guidance

You are welcome to use the resources in the Careers Service for self-directed research and career exploration. We are happy to help you to locate information and will try to answer any queries you may have.

Careers Adviser 'Drop-ins'

You may wish to speak to a Careers Adviser for advice and guidance, so we have daily 'drop-in' sessions, which give you the opportunity to speak to a Careers Adviser for up to 15 minutes about any aspect of your career planning or implementing your career plans.  

No appointment is necessary, though you will need to tell us that you wish to see the Careers Adviser 'on duty.'  You will be asked to provide your name, and we will expect you to have registered with the Careers Service before you come.  If you are not registered, you will be asked to register, and this may delay you being seen.be added to the list of those and there may be a wait if someone is in front of you. 

Please ensure that you have registered with the Careers Service before attending a drop-in session. To register, click on 'Register and log in' in the left-hand menu.

Staff will notify you you are likely to have to wait, and if others are waiting in front of you.  The last appointment is strictly no later than 15 minutes before the end of the session.

You are welcome to gain feedback on an application or CV during a drop-in session, but we advise you to use the CVs provided on this website as a guide when drafting your CV, before asking for feedback.

Longer appointments

If you feel you need to speak to a Careers Adviser for longer, you are welcome to book a half-hour guidance appointment. Once registered with the Careers Service, you can do this by logging into your Careers account and searching 'Events' for the next available appointment date and time with the Careers Adviser for your subject area.  You can then complete your booking.
