Admissions Process
All applications for courses at the university are judged
primarily on academic merit. For some professional training
courses, there may be issues around professional suitability. If a
student has concerns about this, an electronic
version of the Equal Opportunities Code of Practice is
available. If a disability has been declared on the
application form, details are forwarded to Disability
Services. For certain courses, they may also be sent to
the Occupational Health Service. The Disability Service
will send out a Disability Questionnaire to the prospective student
asking them for further information regarding their access
requirements. The information provided gives a fairly
comprehensive indication of the support and adjustments the
individual student may require from Disability Services and the
university.
It is therefore important that the questionnaire is returned
within 3 weeks, as this gives time for it to be considered by the
relevant staff within Disability Services. If there is any
information which suggests we may not be able to immediately meet
the student’s access requirements, Disability Services will liaise
with the Department.
Once a student has made a firm commitment to study with the
University of Hull, we contact the student offering some key
information and advice.
- Once a student has made a firm commitment to study with us, we
ask that students complete the
DSA1 form and return it to us (our office must certify the
student’s application for Disabled Student’s Allowance)
- If a student notifies us of an SpLD we invite them to our
groups.
- We write to or email students to come and register with
the Disability Service, this means bringing with them evidence of
their specific disability and signing the Disability Service’s
Confidentiality
Agreement.
- Priority registration Slips are also provided in this letter so
students who need to move to the front of the general University
registration queue can do so.
- We advise students on the Assessment of Needs procedure and how to
arrange this.
