The Postgraduate Society

The Postgraduate Society was founded in 2009 and in its first
year attracted over 150 members therefore achieving the aim of
establishing a Postgraduate community by connecting students from
all departments. The aim continues to be the cornerstone of the
society and hopes to increase membership and strengthen the
inter-disciplinary community post 2011-2012. Plus every year
we hold an election to select the new 'Executive Committee'
comprising of 5 positions so there is a chance to be at the
very heart of the Postgraduate Society. We held our first AGM with
election on the 9th November 2010 and elected Fiona Hatch
as our new President. The objectives for the society are:
•Establish an inter-discipline postgraduate community
•Provide academic and social support for postgraduate members
•Enjoy the postgraduate experience
•Engage in regular social activities
•Allow all members the chance to voice opinion/issues on a regular
basis
•Overall; make friends and have fun
A word from Fiona.....
“The society was set up in 2009 and aims at bringing
postgraduate students together. As a postgraduate student, it can
be a lonely life and sometimes difficult to meet other postgraduate
students. I knew this experience first hand and decided to join the
society as it was starting up. It was the perfect solution to make
new friends, attend events catered to all tastes and generally
socialise. Therefore as the new President I would like to continue
to build upon the past year and strengthen the postgraduate
community at the University of Hull. So if you are looking to
join a society this year or just want to come along to one of our
social events please contact me – cheers, Fiona”.
