Student Wellbeing, Learning and Welfare Support

Supporting your success.....

You can find us on the 3rd floor of Student Central

Health and Wellbeing Service

What do we offer

We provide a free and confidential advice and support service. We offer a friendly face and a listening ear in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

Typically students may wish to discuss feelings of stress and anxiety; bereavement; depression and other mental health issues relating to University life, academic study or life and relationships beyond the campus. There is no right or wrong reason and if we can’t help you we will always try and signpost you to the appropriate person or service.

Our aim is to support you through your time at University and help you to achieve your academic success.

How do you access the service?

Appointments can be made in person or by telephone on 01482 462222. For general enquiries, the number is 01482 462020.

If you need to speak to someone the same day, in relation to your mental health and wellbeing, there will be a Duty Advisor available on the 2nd floor of Student Central, for the duration of most working days. Please telephone 01482 462 222, or visit the AskHU desk, on the 2nd floor of the Student Union building, to enquire about the specific availability for any given day and to book an appointment. Please note the service offered during vacation time is reduced.

These initial appointments will be up to 20-30 minutes long to discuss your needs.

Further appointments of up to 50 minutes can then be made as appropriate.
*Please note that on the last Wednesday each month there will not be anyone available between 9.30 and 11am due to Staff training.

Please note that there are times whereby the service will need to temporarily close due to unforeseen circumstances.
