How to get to the Scarborough Campus

By train

Regional rail services operate principally from York, just a 50-minute train ride from Scarborough Railway Station. From York, London is a mere two and a quarter hours away, Edinburgh just two hours and forty minutes. Scarborough to Hull is also just an hour's trip by train.

By bus
Visit the EYMS (East Yorkshire Motor Services) website for available bus timetables between the University campus and the town centre. You can take the number 7 bus from the bus stop a little way down from the main shopping area.

By coach
Scarborough has a coach station at the railway station offering National Express service.

By taxi
There are taxis available from the taxi rank at the railway station.

By car
For those travelling by car, the following directions may be useful...

From York

• Follow the 'A64 to Scarborough'. As you get close, you will pass Morrisons on your right and the railway will be on your left. Continue to follow signs towards the town centre. You will cross the railway on a large roundabout. Continue to town centre.
• You will now enter a speed-restricted area. Watch out for the retail park on your right, starting with Polar Ford Garage. The last outlet is B&Q.
• When you reach the traffic lights (look out for B&Q on your right), turn right onto 'Queen Margaret's Road' and follow signposts for the 'University' (also signposted 'Bridlington A165, Filey A1039').
• Follow the road for about half a mile until you get to traffic lights. Turn right and follow the signs for the University (also signposted 'Bridlington, A165').
• Follow this road for about half a mile. The University campus is at the top of the hill on your right, just after Scarborough College.

 

From M62 (eastbound)

• The best route depends on the point at which you join the M62*.
• Trans-Pennine travellers are advised to exit the M62 onto the northbound M1. The M1 merges with the A1 and signs for the 'A64 York' are indicated for the left lane. Follow the A64 York, and then 'A64 Scarborough'. Afterwards, follow the instructions given above for the A64 approach.
• If you are on the M62, at a point closer to Hull than the A1 junction, we suggest you consult your own map to determine whether to approach Scarborough via Driffield or via the coastal route.
• If you approach via Driffield, you will join the A64 below Staxton Hill. Follow the A64 instructions from that point.
• If you approach from the coastal route, please see Hull/Bridlington below.

 

From Hull/Bridlington

• Follow the A165, signposted for 'Scarborough'.
• Soon after the 'Welcome to Scarborough' sign, you will enter a speed-restricted residential area. Go down and up two hills, before a climb with open spaces to your left (golf course). At the top of the climb is the campus. It is signposted on your left.

Scarborough is within easy driving distance of Manchester, Leeds/Bradford, Humberside and Teesside airports, which can transport you to Scarborough from a wide range of locations around Europe and abroad.
